"I LEARNED TO GIVE NOT BECAUSE I HAVE MUCH, BUT BECAUSE I KNOW EXACTLY HOW IT FEELS TO HAVE NOTHING."
Sharing my resources, time, compassion, and love with the less fortunate is not what I do, it's who I am. As a survivor of homelessness, abandonment, and neglect, it pulls at my heartstrings to see anyone incur traumatic experiences on any level.
As a former founder and president of a non-profit organization, designed to send disadvantaged youth to summer camp, I recognize that life happens to all of us, including myself. During that time, my own financial inability to send my son to summer camp, while watching him suffer from lack of stimulation throughout his summer break, from elementary school many years ago, was disheartening. However, after learning that there were many other parents who were struggling with the financial burden of trying to juggle bills and send their children to camp, I felt called to help. I recruited a few a good people and we solicited small donations, from caring individuals with big hearts, to send some totally awesome kids to summer camp. Since then, I've made it my mission, my crusade, to assist whomever, wherever I can. To date, I've volunteered my time and monies to food pantries, shelters, and youth programs. I also utilize a portion of my earnings from my programs, books, and products, to combat homelessness, child abuse, neglect, and abandonment.
Humanitarianism is a part of me and it's something that I cannot and will not ever turn a blind eye to. I have made it my non-negotiable responsibility to bless others as I am blessed.
